π Where to find it
Go to Settings β Custom Fields in your Prommt dashboard.
𧩠What are Custom Fields?
Custom Fields let you add extra data fields to your payment requests β information beyond the standard amount and contact details. When your team sends a payment request, they can populate these fields with relevant reference data that appears on the payment email and checkout page.
There are two custom fields available: Custom Field 1 and Custom Field 2. Each is independent and can be configured separately.
Examples of how businesses use Custom Fields:
Sector | Custom Field example |
Hospitality | Confirmation number, reservation ID, arrival date, room type |
Automotive | Vehicle registration, order number, sales consultant name |
Builders merchants | Purchase order number, account reference, delivery date |
Retail | Order ID, invoice number, customer account number |
Custom Fields are particularly useful for reconciliation β when a payment comes in, the reference data on the request makes it easy to match back to a booking, order, or account without manual searching.
βοΈ Settings explained
Each custom field has three settings:
Field name
Give the field a label that your team will recognise when sending a request and that your customer will see on the payment page. Keep it short and clear β for example, Conf. Number, Order Ref, or Booking ID.
Make Custom Field a mandatory field
When enabled, all users on your account will be required to enter a value in this field before they can send a payment request. Use this if the reference data is essential for every payment β for example, if every request must carry a confirmation number for reconciliation purposes.
Display Custom Field to your customers
When enabled, the field and its value are displayed on the payment email and checkout page the customer sees. Turn this on when the reference data is meaningful to the customer β such as their booking reference or order number. Turn it off if the field is for internal tracking only and doesn't need to be visible to the customer.
πΎ Saving your changes
Once you've configured your fields, click Save Changes. To discard any unsaved changes, click Discard.
Troubleshooting
My team isn't filling in the Custom Field when sending requests. Enable Make Custom Field a mandatory field β this forces a value to be entered before the request can be sent, ensuring the field is never skipped.
The Custom Field is showing on the customer's checkout page but we don't want it to. Turn off Display Custom Field to your customers for that field and save your changes. The field will still be visible to your team when creating requests but won't appear on the customer-facing payment page.
We need more than two Custom Fields. Prommt currently supports two Custom Fields per account. If you need additional reference fields, contact your Prommt Account Manager to discuss your options.
