Understanding your Card Gateway settings

This article explains what the Card Gateway settings page shows and how your payment gateway connects to Prommt.

Connect to your Card Payment Gateway

This section shows the current connection status between your Prommt account and your payment gateway. When your gateway is successfully connected, you'll see a confirmation button showing which gateway is active β€” for example, "Your account is connected to Adyen".

Your payment gateway is the provider that processes card transactions on your behalf. Prommt supports all major gateways including Adyen and FreedomPay. The gateway your account is connected to is set up during your onboarding and is managed by Prommt on your behalf.

Live Mode

This toggle switches your account between Test Mode and Live Mode.

  • Test Mode β€” payments cannot be processed. Used during setup and testing to confirm everything is working before going live

  • Live Mode β€” real payments can be processed by your customers

When your account is in Test Mode, a red banner appears at the top of your dashboard as a reminder that live payments are not active.


⚠️ Need to make changes to your gateway?

Any changes to your card gateway configuration β€” including switching gateway providers, updating credentials, or modifying gateway settings β€” must be made by Prommt Support. Do not attempt to change gateway settings without speaking to us first, as incorrect configuration can prevent payments from processing.

Troubleshooting

My account is stuck in Test Mode and I can't switch to Live Mode. Live Mode is activated by Prommt as part of your go-live process. If you're ready to go live but the toggle isn't available, contact Prommt Support and we'll complete the activation for you.

The gateway connection status isn't showing as connected. This indicates a configuration issue that needs to be resolved by Prommt Support. Contact us via the chat button in your dashboard β€” do not attempt to reconnect the gateway yourself.

Payments are failing across the board. Check your Card Gateway page first to confirm your account is in Live Mode and your gateway is showing as connected. If both look correct, contact Prommt Support with details of the failure β€” include the Payment Gateway Response from the affected payment requests where possible.
